Life Abundance
One of the keys to life abundance begins within your own mind. Do you have abundance mentality or scarcity mentality? To illustrate, imagine you’d like to take a trip to the Bahamas. Do you think in terms of “I can’t afford this trip right now because…” or do you think “What can I do in order to make this trip a reality…” Perhaps, like me, you consider yourself a fairly optimistic person, but struggle with the concept of life abundance and abundance mentality.
If you’re a regular churchgoer, you may even think in terms of “If I have, then others will have to do without” rather than “If I have, then that means others can also have.”  Many of us struggle with the guilt of having things while other people may not have things, but I challenge you to think in terms of life abundance as it relates to everything around you and what’s important to you. Take Oprah Winfrey, for example. One of the wealthiest (if not THE wealthiest) women in the world, Oprah’s wealth has allowed her to give back and to help give life abundance to others who so desperately need it.
Look at how you view life abundance, and start thinking in terms of “How can I…” rather than “I can’t because…” Once you remove the roadblocks of “I can’t” you’ll be amazed at what you can do. My daughter’s first grade teacher had an ingenious method of helping her students overcome their “I can’ts.” She had each of them write down an “I can’t” phrase on a piece of paper. Then they had a “burial” by the school playground where they took their “I can’t” papers and actually buried them in the ground. Since they’re removed and gone, they no longer have that burden on them and can now focus on ways of achieving what they once thought they couldn’t. Sometimes it just takes a shift in our thinking to easily move the mountains that hold us back.

Success Definition
The success definition you find in many dictionaries states something like “the achievement of something planned, desired or attempted.”
Every person’s definition of success varies as greatly as the individuals we are. For some, it means financial gain, for others it means being active and healthy. In addition, many of us define success differently at different points in our lives.
I think most of us would agree that with success comes a feeling of accomplishment, of doing or attaining something (tangible or intangible).
In starting my own business, I never realized that my journey would lead me to self-discovery, to uncovering things in my subconscious that I either ignored or didn’t even know about until I started focusing on it. Many people don’t want to hear this, but often when we strive to be successful we must confront the things that are holding us back first. This starts with an overview of our beliefs and assumptions, many of which we formed at an early age. For example, one belief I held was that people with a lot of money were somehow “bad” or had gotten their money by stepping on the backs of others. When I started my business, this belief kept me from achieving what I know I could, and I kept sabotaging my own efforts. When I finally figured out what I was doing, I was able to get rid of the feelings about this belief, and focus more on creating positive results.
One program that has really helped me uncover some of my own beliefs and assumptions is The Abundance Course, by Lawrence Crane.
Utilizing “The Release Technique,” you’re shown how to confront the feelings and energy you associate with things in your life, and learn how to get rid of it. By getting rid of these associated feelings and energy, you’re able to achieve clarity and focus.
Some of this is based on “The Law of Attraction” which was recently popularized by Oprah and Rhonda Byrne through “The Secret.” Basically, the premise is that by focusing on positive outcomes and clearly visual results, you will attract more of what you focus on.

Stress Management?
I took a stress test a few days ago and scored (almost at the top) of the “high stress” category. I was absolutely floored. I mean, I knew I had some stress management issues, but didn’t realize how much I was suppressing.
I found a course (the Abundance Course) that teaches the Release Technique, which is a way to get RID of the stress altogether (among other things). I bought the program (only because it has a money-back guarantee), and have been amazed at what I’ve learned so far (and I just started an hour ago). It suddenly occurred to me, why should we spend time on stress management, when we can get rid of the stress completely? Think about that for a minute. Why would you “manage” something you don’t even want? We don’t “manage” splinters in our fingers, we pull them out. You can pull your stress out.

In the meantime, I wish you continued success, wherever you are in your journey,

The Road by Cormac McCarthy
“The Road” has been selected as the latest book in Oprah’s Book Club.
The story takes place in post-apolyptic USA, and offers a grim and bleak scenario of what life would be like. We follow a man and his young son on a journey of survival. Powerfully written, you will be thinking about this story for weeks. Definitely worth reading.

Success Tip for the Day: Read books about successful people. Either go to your local library, or visit one of the links below to see some success books that I HIGHLY recommend. These are not fluffy, feel-good books, but rather books that can have a profound impact on the way you see things. I plan to create a Recommended Reading page, but for now, here are my top picks:
Benjamin Franklin’s Autobiography - believe it or not, this is one of those rare books that you will have a hard time putting down. It’s extremely engaging and provides great insight into the mind of an extremely successful man. He wrote this book to help others wishing to find entrepreneurial success.
How to Win Friends and Influence People - Dale Carnegie’s classic is still as relevant today as it was when it was written over 60 years ago. A must-read for anyone wanting to achieve success in their lives.
